真浄寺は、開創以来400年の歴史を刻む間、檀信徒の皆さんとの『縁』を何よりも大切にしてきました。その根底にあるのは、皆さんの心に深く寄り添い、温かい繋がりを育んできた「寺院風土」とも呼ぶべき真浄寺の伝統です。この伝統を継承しつつ、ここから結ぶ新たな「縁」をつないで、より多くの方々に真浄寺を心のよりどころとしていただきたい。それが真浄寺の願いです。

真浄寺の歴史
History
時代を超えて紡がれた心の灯
真浄寺の歴史を振り返ると、いつも「人」がいました。江戸時代のはじめ、正保元年（1645年）に向善院日養上人により開創されて以来、この麻布台の地で39代にわたる歴代の住職とその家族が、地域の人々とともに歩んできました。
決して平たんな道のりではありませんでした。昭和20年5月26日、東京大空襲により本堂は焼失。しかし、檀信徒の皆さんの深い願いと支えにより、昭和34年には新たな本堂が再建されました。焼け跡から立ち上がったのは建物だけではありません。人々の心を支え続けたいという真浄寺の志そのものでした。
真浄寺の歴史は、決して一人で歩んできた道ではありません。江戸から明治、大正、昭和、平成、そして令和へ。時代が変わっても、ここで手を合わせ、心の支えを求める人々の思いは変わることがありません。この物語の主役は、このお寺と縁を持ったすべての人です。そして、これからも新たな縁を迎え入れながら、心の灯を絶やすことなく、次の時代へと紡いでいきます。
Lights Passed Through Generations
Looking back through our history, people have always been at its heart. Since its founding in 1645 by Rev. Kōzen-in Nichiyō, thirty-nine generations of resident priests and their families have walked alongside the people of the community of this area.
The path was not always even. On May 26, 1945, the Great Tokyo Air Raid destroyed our temple's main hall. Yet through the deep hopes and unwavering support of our members, a new main hall rose again in 1959. What emerged from those ashes was more than just a building—it was our enduring commitment to keep supporting people's hearts.
Our story was not a solitary journey. Through the passing of eras for centuries around us, the hearts of those who have come here seeking spiritual refuge remained unchanged. The true protagonists of our story are all the people who formed connections with this temple. And we will continue welcoming new connections, keeping the inner-light burning bright as we weave our way into the next chapters.
